Counselling
I offer psychological intervention and support for a range of psychological and emotional difficulties. Some of the issues that are dealt with in counselling include, but are not limited to: adjustment difficulties, family conflict, behavioural problems, time management, study methods, barriers to learning, trauma, bullying, grief and bereavement, stress, relationship difficulties, self – development, overcoming adversity, confidence building as well as managing life’s challenges. Referrals are made, when necessary, to other relevant professionals. My approach to counselling is eclectic in nature as every individual’s personality and needs differ.
Additionally, I am a certified BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT) Practitioner. “BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy”, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terrence Watts. It’s a totally confidential method that doesn’t require you to reveal your private information or personal secrets to your therapist, and is carried out in a completely conscious state. It doesn’t use hypnosis or any mystical concepts – it’s completely logical, practical and down to earth. It only needs you to know what you want to change in your life for it to be successful. Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code.
Psychometric Assessments
Choosing subjects for the FET phase (Grade 10 – 12) can be a daunting task which typically takes place in the latter part of a learners Grade 9 academic year. It is an important decision to make as it ultimately determines whether the student has the necessary subjects to pursue their chosen study path or career field. A Subject Choice Assessment can be a valuable tool in guiding students into making an informed decision.
The assessment battery used for a Subject Choice Assessment, typically incorporates an interview with the student as well as Intellectual Ability assessment or an Aptitude test, Personality, Interests and Values assessments. Following the assessment, the results are analysed, integrated and recommendations are made based on the various domains that were assessed. Feedback is given to the student and parent(s) / guardian in a feedback consultation together with a comprehensive report.
Group Assessments at different schools can be arranged.
A Career Assessment can be a beneficial tool for individuals who may be wanting to decide on a study or career path, whether it be a high school student, a university student or an adult wanting to embark on a new career field altogether.

Psycho – educational assessments are commonly recommended for students who struggle to keep up with the academic demands of their grade. These assessments are mostly recommended by teachers, other professionals who may be working with the student or concerned parents. Psycho – educational assessments include assessments needed as evidence for applications for potential examination concessions / accommodations or subject exemptions. They can also be used as a screening for potential barriers to learning.
The purpose of such an assessment is to establish the student’s strengths and weaknesses and to obtain a more holistic understanding of the individual’s current performance and difficulties. The assessment battery varies, depending on the student’s reason for referral and their age. However, most types of psycho – educational assessments incorporate assessments to evaluate intellectual ability and cognitive functioning as well as scholastic achievement, which analyses reading, writing, spelling and mathematics ability. Background history and contextual factors play an important role in gaining a thorough insight into a student’s current performance.
Following the assessment, the results are analysed, integrated and recommendations are made in order to support the student to reach their full potential. Feedback is given to the individual and parent(s) / guardian in a feedback consultation where the findings, recommendations and interventions are discussed. The results and recommendations will also be given to the parents in a comprehensive report.
